About the Southdown Breed 

The Southdown is one of the oldest purebred sheep breeds in the world. The breed originated centuries ago in the hills of Sussex, England, long known as the "Downs."
 
There is little written history or description of the Southdown dating earlier than two hundred fifty years ago. The early Southdown was noted for some important qualities for which they have since become especially famous, they had a good leg, and their meat was excellent, possessing remarkable flavor.

Our Business

All our animals are registered with the American Southdown Breeders Association.  Our sheep are scapie resistant.  Our ram is RR. 

Market animals are hauled to the processor for your convenience.  You tell the processor how you would like your lamb processed (cut).  We pick up your meat and deliver to you.

Our show animals are all vaccinated and ear tagged.  We have quality confirmation.  We cater to 4H or FFA students.  We are willing to help the student with any questions they may have.  We have had animals that have done well in jackpot shows and county shows. 

Who We Are

Our farm is located 75 southwest of Fort Worth in the foothills of central Texas.  We raise Southdown sheep and have two Jersey cows, seven border collies and a thoroughbred  horse.

Because we are a small producer, we handle all our animals everyday.  Our animals are barn stalled in inclement weather and have ample pasture in which to roam. 

We started our flock of Southdown sheep because they are small and easily manageable.  All our lambs are from our own animals. We started with our daughter's FFA project and grew our flock from that first ewe.

 Our daughter won the 2000 Southdown Futurity and we were well on our way!

We are members of the American Southdown Breeders Association and past members of the Texas Southdown Breeders Association.
